11/23/2023 1 Comment Kinematic viscosity of water at 10 cThe kinematic viscosity in cSt at 40☌ is the basis for the ISO 3448 kinematic viscosity grading system, making it the international standard. Several engineering units are used to express viscosity, but the most common by far are centistoke (cSt) for kinematic viscosity and the centipoise (cP) for dynamic (absolute) viscosity. Typically, viscosity is reported at 40☌ and/or 100☌ or both if the viscosity index is required. The temperature must be defined to interpret the viscosity reading. Likewise, reporting viscosity for trending purposes without a reference to temperature is nonsensical. Viscosity is not a dimensional measurement, so calling highly viscous oil thick and less viscous oil thin is misleading. Sometimes, viscosity is erroneously referred to as thickness (or weight). Generally speaking, viscosity is a fluid’s resistance to flow (shear stress) at a given temperature. Given the importance of viscosity analysis coupled with the increasing popularity of onsite oil analysis instruments used to screen and supplement offsite laboratory oil analysis, it is essential that oil analysts understand the difference between dynamic and kinematic viscosity measurements. By contrast, most onsite viscometers measure dynamic viscosity, but are programmed to estimate and report kinematic viscosity, so that the viscosity measurements reported reflect kinematic numbers reported by most labs and lube oil suppliers. Most used oil analysis laboratories measure and report kinematic viscosity. The two are easily confused, but are significantly different. Viscosity can be measured and reported as dynamic (absolute) viscosity or as kinematic viscosity. However, there is more to viscosity than meets the eye. Likewise, there is no property more critical to effective component lubrication than base oil viscosity. Of all the tests employed for used oil analysis, none provides better test repeatability or consistency than viscosity. Viscosity reporting is only valid when the temperature at which the test was conducted also is reported - for example 23 cSt at 40 degrees C. This value is converted to standard units such as centistokes (cSt) or square millimeters per second. It is determined by measuring the time in seconds, required for a fixed volume of fluid to flow a known distance by gravity through a capillary within a calibrated viscometer at a closely controlled temperature. The conversion of conventional measures into cSt is inaccurate, particularly within the 1 to 9.5 cSt range (see DIN 1342, viscosity of NEWTONian liquids).Kinematic viscosity is a measure of a fluid's internal resistance to flow under gravitational forces. If values higher than 1000 cSt are required, the data given from 60 cSt can be multiplied accordingly by 10, 100, 1000 etc. The table can also alternatively be used to assign corresponding values to one another. The former units are no longer approved and can be converted to m²/s using Fig. To ensure correct usage, the Stokes units and the units still currently in general use must be converted into the SI unit m 2/s. These are: degrees Engler (✮) in Germany, Saybolt seconds (S˝) in USA and Redwood seconds (R˝) in Britain. The conventional units of viscosity are unsuitable as a basis for calculation, but are still used in commerce. The Stokes unit ceased to be officially valid in 1978. The hundredth part thereof is a Centi stokes (cSt). The unit used here is m 2/s and is called – in honour of the Irish physicist STOKES – a Stokes (St). However, most measurements are still made in centistokes, e.g. Thus water at 20 ✬ has a kinematic viscosity ν = 1,002 Kinematic viscosity (ν) designates the quotient of the dynamic viscosity of the fluid handled and its density. 11/23/2023 0 Comments Cubase price in yenI would like to try out popular Japanese activities such as “singing covers” or “mixing”! While it’s difficult to categorize, we’ve divided our recommendations by purpose! Many users tend to purchase “software instruments” such as realistic drum or piano sounds to complement their DAW, so keep that in mind when choosing a DAW that suits you. As a rule of thumb, it’s best to choose a DAW that you feel comfortable using and that you think will help you be more creative. If you’re serious about music production, buying the highest-end version of any DAW will ultimately yield similar results. However, it’s often difficult to convince someone of our recommendations without explaining the reasons behind them. We often receive inquiries about which DAW software to purchase. DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation, which is software used to create music on a computer. 11/22/2023 0 Comments Amazon fire cubeSo when you look at the prices - $120, or even $60, for the Fire TV Cube, and $150 for the standard Apple TV - it's a bit of a head-scratcher why the Apple TV costs $30 more. They both work great for downloading apps, watching movies and shows, and browsing for new things to watch. What I realized by the end of testing it out is that the core features of both products work mostly the same all that really changes is the interface. I don't have cable, a soundbar, a gaming console, a smart security camera, or smart light bulbs, so I wasn't able to take advantage of some of that extra functionality - I primarily used the Fire TV Cube to play movies and TV. That being said, I used the two devices in much the same way. The Fire TV Cube also does a lot more than play movies and TV - it can switch inputs or tune into live TV, and it can control your entire home entertainment set-up and smart-home devices. The Fire TV Cube works as a standalone Echo device, while an Apple TV doesn't do anything when your TV is turned off. It's not exactly fair to compare the Fire TV Cube and the Apple TV side by side. Over the last few weeks, I've tried hard to go completely hands-free, but nine times out of 10, I opted for the convenience of the remote over asking Alexa. It's simply not easier to ask Alexa to "scroll right" rather than do it yourself, and it's not easier to ask Alexa to select a movie out of a lineup than it is to press the button yourself. I have plenty of other complaints about the voice experience, and they all relate to the fact that no one needs to control their TV with their voice. And if it's not easy to figure out on the first try, or the 20th try. I'm sure there was a way to phrase my query to get Alexa to do what I wanted, but it wasn't intuitive. No matter how I asked, Alexa would bring up seemingly every option except the one I wanted, including starting the show from the beginning, watching the film version, watching the sequel to the film, and watching a documentary about the series. My biggest frustration was asking it to pick up where I left off in a show. Getting the device to do anything I wanted was harder than it needed to be. And that's not the case with the Fire TV Cube. I use and enjoy smart assistants, and I truly believe they can be important tools for your home.īut the only way to get people to adopt smart assistants is to make them quicker and more convenient to use than typing your query into your phone, or pressing a button on a remote. Look, I'm all for the wave of the future. The Amazon Fire TV Cube has Alexa built-in, so you can get watching in an instant, rather than navigating a maze of menus and apps. But Amazon should be able to detect when customers have paid a premium for the Fire TV Cube and pull it back.Account icon An icon in the shape of a person's head and shoulders. Ads are inevitable on $40 streaming sticks that’s how they’re so affordable in the first place. It cheapens the whole user experience and feels unwarranted on a $140 product. The latter shouldn’t come as a surprise on the company’s own hardware, but the dial really needs to be turned down on the rest. When you’re perusing through the carousels of content on the homescreen, Amazon’s own selections still get the lion’s share of promotion. And ads are now taking up room in the live channel guide, which is frustrating some Fire TV owners. At the top of the homescreen over the last few days, there’s been a banner ad for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which doesn’t even seem relevant to the platform outside of Twitch streams. When the Cube is left idle and goes into screensaver mode, you’ll see promoted movies and TV shows, sure, but there are also ads for Lexus cars. Advertising across Fire TV OS remains way more in your face than I’d like. 11/22/2023 0 Comments Partap singh kairon son armyHis tenure witnessed the worsening of the insurgency in Punjab where his rivalry with the state's new chief minister and support for Bhindranwale prevented resolute action against the insurgents. Bhindranwale soon became the flagbearer of Sikh separatism and an insurgency seeking the establishment of Khalistan broke out in Punjab.Įlected to the Lok Sabha in 1980, Singh was appointed India’s home minister by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Following the defeat of the Congress party in the elections of 1977, Singh and Sanjay Gandhi extended political and financial support to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a radical Sikh preacher. Singh’s policies aimed to undercut the influence of the Shiromani Akali Dal party by championing Sikh religious causes. He had served as president of PEPSU Pradesh Congress Committee during 1955–56 and became president of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee in 1966 serving in that post until his election as chief minister of Punjab in 1972.Īs chief minister, Singh is credited with having established India’s first semiconductor manufacturing unit in Mohali, legislating the Punjab Land Reforms Act of 1972, ensuring reservation for Mazhabi Sikhs and Valmikis in education and public employment and repatriating the remains of Udham Singh which were then cremated in Punjab with state honours. Singh was a member of the Rajya Sabha during 1956–62 and member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1962–67 during which time he served briefly as a minister under Partap Singh Kairon. The stints in jail inspired him to change his name to Zail Singh.Īfter independence, Faridkot was merged with the Patiala and East Punjab States Union and Singh served as its minister of revenue and agriculture during 1949–51 and oversaw the introduction of land reforms in Punjab. He led a flag satyagraha and formed a parallel government in Faridkot State which were called off only after the intervention of Jawaharlal Nehru and Vallabhbhai Patel. His political activism in the Praja Mandal, an organization allied with the Indian National Congress, saw him sentenced to solitary confinement between 19. Singh was associated with peasant agitations and the movement seeking a representative government in Faridkot. He was the first Sikh to become president.īorn in Sandhwan in the princely state of Faridkot, Singh trained to be a granthi and was given the title of giani, meaning a learned man, while training at the Sikh Missionary School in Amritsar. Giani Zail Singh ( pronunciation i, born Jarnail Singh – 25 December 1994 ) was an Indian politician from Punjab who served as the seventh president of India from 1982 to 1987. 11/22/2023 0 Comments Next fed meetingStill, it may happen at a slow pace on the Fed’s current estimates. Falling Rates?Īs the chance of the Fed raising rates again diminishes, the market’s focus may turn to the Fed’s plans to bring rates down in 2024. The last jobs report for the month of July was encouraging, but there will be another jobs report on September 1 before the Fed meets on September 20. However, if jobs data were to deteriorate, then the Fed may be less inclined to raise rates, all else equal. For 2023 so far, employment has held up better than many expected, giving the Fed the luxury of focusing on inflation risks without much of an obvious trade-off for the economy. Though the Fed has devoted much of its attention to inflation, employment is part of its mandate, too. However, the views of Fed officials may have evolved in recent months, in part, as recent inflation data has been broadly encouraging. The last update from June suggested interest rates may end 2023 at 5.5% to 5.75%, one notch above where they are currently. Economic projections are updated at every other scheduled Fed meeting. Summary Of Economic ProjectionsĮven if the Fed’s September meeting does not yield any change in rates as most expect then markets will be listening to Jerome Powell’s press conference and analyzing the Fed’s Summary of Economic Projections for signals as to what might be coming in November or December. Disagreement between Fed officials on rates could occur. This may mean that there is no consensus decision on interest rates in the final meetings of 2023, with a one rate hike a possibility depending on the view of some officials. Fed Governor Michelle Bowman said on August 5: “I also expect that additional rate increases will likely be needed to get inflation on a path down to the FOMC's 2 percent target.” Therefore, certain Fed officials still see more rate hikes as necessary. 11/22/2023 0 Comments Turn picture into cartoonAfter that, the edges are thoroughly drawn, the number of colors on the picture is reduced and color transitions are smoothed. In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a road bike revolution going on in the cycling world. Outside the realm of the pro peloton, those skinny, jarring, high-pressure 23c racing tires are becoming a thing of the past. In their place is a more comfortable and robust 650b/27.5” (aka “road plus”) wheel size.Īnd today Surly Bikes, no stranger to alternate/odd wheel sizes, launched its latest road bike, the Midnight Special – complete with, you guessed it, 650b wheels. The Midnight Special is Surly’s evolution of its Pacer road bike, itself an underrated performer. The stock WTB Horizon 650-by-42 tires more than live up to Surly’s “FFF: Fatties Fit Fine” mantra. Sans fenders, the Midnight Special will even accept up to 27.5-by-2.35-inch tires for more of an off-road feel. Thru-axles hold both front and rear wheels firmly in place, and flat-mount disc brakes keep things cool and under control when the speed ramps up. Over 10 hours, I rode the Midnight Special during for approximately 150 miles during fast road rides and on a mixture of surfaces. The wide 650b tires feel like they take slightly longer to accelerate up to speed, but once rolling they hold velocity and feel extremely planted. This lends a sense of stability and confidence in sandy corners and on fast descents. They also provide an astounding level of grip given the wider contact patch. I was able to consistently clean an entire switchback-laden gravel climb, lovingly dubbed the “Lung Buster,” near Minneapolis. By contrast, my personal bike routinely spins out and loses rear wheel traction on this segment if my weight isn’t properly distributed. Speaking of weight, the Midnight Special is fabricated from burly 4130 chromoly steel, like all of Surly’s frames. While this imparts durability and comfort, a lightweight it is not. Nonetheless, this had no impact on the ride quality, and at no point did the bike feel sluggish or slow.Īctual bike weight? I’d guess my 58-cm test bike was around 25 pounds, but who cares? The Midnight Special is not a race bike.Īnd though by all measures it looks like a white bike, Surly maintains its oddball color naming. The “Hot Mayonnaise” Midnight Special is offered both as a complete bike for $1,799, or as a $625 frameset. It comes in eight sizes from 40 to 64 cm. And Surly equips the Midnight Special for all manner of adventure with three bottle mounts and provisions for racks, fenders, and cages. Resurgence of 650b Wheelsīelive it or not, the 650b wheel is not new. In fact, it was popular more than 60 years ago among French touring frame constructeurs, and even held favor with early mountain bike designers. Today, 650b wheels on drop-bar bikes offer clearances for wider rubber. This keeps geometry fairly consistent, and in turn offers more traction, comfort, and a feeling of stability.Īll of this coincides nicely with the fervent uptick and interest in gravel riding the past few years.Īnd when shod with a typical 42-mm tire, they roll out to roughly the same circumference as their anemic race tire brethren. Riders increasingly seek out quiet country lanes, miles away from the major thoroughfares where traffic and distracted driving has made well-traveled routes downright dangerous. 11/22/2023 0 Comments Bridge constructor game on redditSpoilers include, and are not limited to, revealing something about the plot late in the game or explaining an important plot point.
